Dear Valued and Dedicated Customers,
It comes with both a heavy heart and great excitement to announce that this past New Years Eve was the last night of operations for the current ownership group. Zola has been purchased. First and foremost the new group is dedicated to keeping Zola as Zola. This factor was very important to us in the selling process. We are unbelievably proud of what Zola stands for and what it provides to the Centre Region. We are very honored that the new group is simply going to build and expand on the Zola concept.
The new group has some very exciting plans for the space, which include but are not limited to redoing the lighting, floors, paint, and most exciting to me, a state of the art wine room in the front portion of the restaurant! They are starting on these projects almost immediately and hope to have the license transfer and renovations completed in early February. The group will shortly be introducing themselves to the community. I can tell you they are lead by a very talented, young and dynamic chef who is excited to expand the Zola brand.
Like so many great businesses Zola was conceived at a bar on a cocktail napkin. It opened in 2002 and we feel has helped State College grow in a Culinary and Wine sense. As for us, Dave Fonash will stay on with the new ownership group for an extended period of time to help with the transition and operations. Chef Paul Kendeffy will take on new challenges and adventures. From the both of us, we sincerely appreciate the exceptional support over the years and we look forward to seeing the brand grow and continue to thrive.
